Tulip Growing in Containers

In late summer place bulbs close together and deep enough so that their noses will be belowthe surface of the potting mixture,

Use your fingers to spread and firm the potting mixture between and over the bulbs.

Unlike hyacinths and daffodls, tulip bulbs must be covered with the potting mixture.

Thoroughtly water the potting mixture. To encourage root development.

Place the container in a cool, dark, vermin-proof area.

Put the pot in a black polythene bag and place in a cool cellar or shed.

Between 14 and 16 weeks later shoots will be about 5cm/2in high.

Move indoors to 45-50 Deg C.

Water regularly to keep the potting compost or bulb fibre moist.
