• When grown in containers, amaryllis prefers a sandy-loam soil mix. The mixture should be slightly acid, with a pH of 6.0 to 6.8.
• Pot up bulbs individually into 13-15cm/5-6in wide pots.
• Use potting compost and leave half of the bulb exposed.
• Water the potting compost thoroughly and place in 13-16 Deg C/ 55-61 Deg F.
• Keep the compost lightly moist until shoots appear.
• Increase the frequency of watering.
• When the bulb is growing strongly, feed at weekly intervals with a weak liquid fertilizer.
• After the flowers fade, continue to water and apply a weekly feed until leaves become yellow.
• Stop feeding and watering and allow the bulb (still in the pot) to dry.
• Repot the bulb every year, giving it fresh potting compost.
